Position Summary:
The Plumbing Superintendent is responsible for managing field execution on commercial plumbing projects, ensuring crews stay on schedule, work is code-compliant, and installations meet project plans and quality expectations. This role requires a strong communicator, technical expert, and natural leader who can mentor team members and help maintain a professional and productive jobsite environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee layout and installation of plumbing systems, including cast iron, PVC, copper, CPVC, PEX, and steel gas piping
- Supervise and support field crews, providing guidance, mentorship, and layout as needed
- Ensure all work complies with local, state, and federal plumbing codes and standards
- Read and interpret blueprints, spec books, and shop drawings to guide field activities
- Maintain accurate daily logs and field reports
- Submit and respond to RFIs, and coordinate with the office team for any changes or updates
- Assist with BIM/CAD interpretation and coordination where applicable
- Maintain active participation in project meetings and company-required trainings
- Ensure proper use of Procore for documentation, drawings, and communication
- Promote jobsite safety and enforce OSHA and company safety standards
- Exhibit professionalism at all times on-site and when representing the company
Qualifications:
- 6 years of Journeyman-level commercial plumbing experience
- Prior experience as a Plumbing Superintendent
- Strong knowledge of commercial plumbing systems and construction processes (Hotels, Multi-Family, Assisted Living, Tenant Improvement)
- Ability to measure accurately and lay out work for crews
- Familiarity with plumbing codes and inspection processes
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- High School diploma or GED required; current plumbing license preferred
- Must have valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Tool Requirements: Superintendents are expected to be equipped with basic tools including:
- Tape measures (25’ and 100’), pipe wrenches, torch setup, cordless drill/impact/Sawzall kit
- Pipe cutters, crescent wrench, lineman pliers, channel locks, mini sledge, framing hammer, torque wrench, trim wrench, screwdrivers, Allen wrench set, and level
