About the Role
Iron Horse Bar & Grill in Lee’s Summit is seeking a focused, energetic Food Expo to join our fast-paced kitchen team. This role is the vital link between the kitchen and front-of-house—ensuring every plate leaves the line accurate, hot, and beautifully presented. Our kitchen is scratch-made, high-volume, and detail-driven. The Expo plays a critical role in maintaining the high standards our guests expect.
Key Responsibilities
- Order Expediting: Coordinate closely with the kitchen and front-of-house teams to ensure food is delivered accurately and efficiently.
- Quality Control: Inspect all dishes for presentation, accuracy, portioning, and overall quality before they leave the kitchen.
- Order Accuracy: Confirm all plates match tickets, including modifiers, special requests, dietary needs, and allergens.
- Timing & Flow: Manage ticket timing so full orders are delivered together and at proper temperatures.
- Clear Communication: Act as the primary communicator between cooks, servers, and bartenders to resolve issues quickly and professionally.
- Attention to Detail: Ensure garnishes, plating, and presentation meet Iron Horse standards every time.
- Speed & Organization: Maintain composure and efficiency in a high-volume environment.
- Adaptability: Assist with additional kitchen or service needs during peak times as required.
- Cleanliness & Safety: Keep the expo line clean, organized, and compliant with sanitation and food safety standards.
- Team Culture: Promote a positive, collaborative environment where everyone works together toward a great guest experience.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a food expo, line cook, or kitchen support is preferred but not required.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-energy setting.
- Strong multitasking skills and attention to detail.
- Clear communication skills and a team-first mindset.
- Basic understanding of food safety and sanitation practices.
- Flexible, reliable, and willing to jump in where needed.
