Iron County is accepting applications to create a **hiring roster** for employment as a Corrections Deputy at the Iron County Jail. This roster can be utilized for a period of up to 12 months to fill vacancies. Minimum starting wage is $26.79 per hour; this may be adjusted for those who have POST Certification and Experience. Iron County will give year for year credit, for up to 10 years of previous verifiable Corrections Deputy Experience.
Minimum requirements: Applicant must be 21 years of age prior to graduation from POST Academy. Must be a US Citizen, have a high school diploma or equivalent, possess a Utah Driver License in good standing. Preference will be given to those holding a current Utah POST Corrections Officer Certificate. A written and physical examination must be passed along with a pre-employment drug screen, criminal background investigation and 10-week POST Corrections Officer Training Program.
