VHAL - Tenant Care Aide - FT Night Shift

• Provide care and service to improve and maintain a tenant’s physical and intellectual functioning and independence.

• Provide direct personal care according to the tenant’s treatment plan and company directives in a quality manner.

• Be an active participant in the tenant’s care by giving suggestions and input to improve quality of care and support our goal of excellence.

• Participate and interact with tenants in a dignified, respectful and pleasant manner.

• Read and comprehend written instruction, follow verbal instruction, and provide detailed documentation.

• Problem solve issues that arise throughout shift.

• Remain calm in tense situations while handing emergencies with tenants and in the building.

• Address tenant and facility concerns and issues in a timely manner.

• Always maintain accuracy and confidentiality of tenant’s personal and health information.

• Attend meetings as directed, including in service programs and ongoing education.

• Communicate with tenants and their families.

• Actively listen and conduct yourself in a patient and pleasant manner.

• Answer the phone, take messages, and interact with the public.

• Perform other duties as assigned by the Assisted Living Director or Administrator.

Dietary:

• Aids with cooking and serving meals, obtains food and supplies as required, assists in ordering, checking and storage of supplies, assists in washing dishes according to procedures, follows cleaning schedule, assists in meal set-up, maintains kitchen and snack/beverage areas.

Housekeeping:

• Cleans and services tenant apartments weekly providing light housekeeping throughout main space, bathroom, bedroom, and kitchen.

• Cleans bathrooms, recreational rooms, offices, laundry room, dining rooms, hallways and all common areas. Replenishes supplies of soaps, towels and toilet paper in the public restrooms.

• Must know how to use common house-cleaning devices, such as vacuums, brooms, mops, and scouring pads.

Activities:

• Responsible for assisting with the activities program set up by coordinator.

• Activities are as follows but are not limited to card games, shopping trips, puzzle games, various crafts, movie nights, picnics, bus trips, exercise class, and bingo.

• Provide input for group/individual activities that meet the needs of the tenants.

Personal Care Needs:

• Can be responsible for assisting with tenant personal care needs.

• Personal care needs can be as follows: Bathing, dressing, medications, toileting, and/or any other activities of daily living.

Must be 16 years or older and of good moral character. Must be willing to get a valid chauffeur’s driver’s license within four (4) weeks of hire and be willing to transport tenants to and from scheduled appointments and activities.
