Senior Accountant
My client located in Morris County, NJ is seeking a Senior Accountant to join their Finance team for a 6 month assignment with the potential for regular, full time employment. The successful candidate will report to the Regional Controller and play a key role supporting accounting operations. You will have strong technical accounting expertise in a manufacturing environment and possess a passion for process improvement. You will have responsibility for month-end close, financial reporting, project accounting, revenue recognition, cost accounting, and partnering with cross-functional teams to drive financial accuracy and operational excellence. This is a hybrid position requiring 4 days on site.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead month-end and year-end close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
- Support Percentage-of-Completion (POC) accounting and revenue recognition in accordance with US GAAP and IFRS.
- Analyze general ledger activity and perform balance sheet reconciliations.
- Prepare monthly financial statements and support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Partner with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Operations to analyze project costs, inventory, and gross margin performance.
- Assist with audits, internal controls, and financial compliance.
- Drive continuous process improvements and support ERP system enhancements.
- Support day-to-day accounting operations, including AP, AR, fixed assets, and reporting.
Qualifications
- BA/BS Accounting; CPA preferred
- 4 years accounting experience in public accounting and/or manufacturing environment
- Strong experience with cost accounting and POC accounting
- Strong understanding of US GAAP, IFRS, and internal controls
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Experience with Power BI, SQL, and ERP systems such as M3, Jobscope, or SAP a plus
- Knowledge of IFRS 15, ASC 606, and IFRS 16 a plus
- Experience supporting financial system implementations or process improvements
- Able to work independently while collaborating across multiple functions
- Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
