What are the responsibilities and job description for the Patient Mobility Aide - Float - Full Time position at IRMC?
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
In this role you will be:
- Assist patients/residents with mobility, including walking, repositioning, transfers, and use of mobility aids (wheelchairs, walkers, canes, gait belts, lifts).
- Support safe transfers between bed, chair, wheelchair, toilet, and other surfaces using proper body mechanics and approved techniques.
- Monitor and report changes in mobility, strength, balance, or pain to nursing staff.
- Encourage patient independence and participation in mobility activities as appropriate.
- Follow individualized care plans and mobility protocols established by nursing or therapy staff.
- Ensure mobility equipment is clean, properly maintained, and used correctly.
- Maintain a safe environment to reduce fall risks.
- Provide respectful, compassionate care while preserving patient dignity and privacy.
- Accurately document mobility assistance and observations per facility policy.
- Collaborate with nurses, physical therapists, and other healthcare team members.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- EDUCATION: High school graduate or equivalent
- EXPERIENCE:
- Experience assisting patients with mobility and transfers preferred.
- Knowledge of safe patient handling techniques and fall prevention.
- Ability to follow care plans and safety guidelines
- LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:
- Two years of Nursing Assistant experience preferred or CNA certification (required).
- BLS certification required or obtained within 1 month of hire
Shifts: Monday - Friday 9am - 530pm
