What are the responsibilities and job description for the Courier - Casual position at IRMC?
In this role you will be:
- Pick up and deliver items including medical records, laboratory specimens, medications, sterile supplies, interdepartmental mail, and other hospital materials.
- Operate hospital vehicles or walk designated routes to complete deliveries across hospital campuses or external locations.
- Ensure proper handling and security of sensitive, confidential, or hazardous materials, following HIPAA, OSHA, and DOT regulations.
- Maintain accurate delivery logs and obtain signatures for all pickups and drop-offs.
- Respond to urgent and stat requests promptly and professionally.
- reporting any issues or required maintenance on courier vehicles.
- Adhere to hospital infection prevention and safety protocols, including wearing appropriate PPE.
- Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor while interacting with staff, patients, and the public.
- Assist with sorting, loading, and unloading deliveries as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or department leadership.

- EDUCATION: High school graduate or GED equivalent required
- EXPERIENCE: N/A
- LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: Valid PA driver’s license with no previous violations
