Position Summary
A major Workday HCM and Financials implementation program requires an experienced Workday Application Developer (SME) to lead the design, development, testing, deployment, and ongoing support of Workday integrations, reports, and advanced configurations.
This role will serve as a senior technical contributor working closely with HR, Payroll, Finance, and IT teams to ensure successful delivery and optimal system performance.
Core Responsibilities
Design, develop, test, and deploy complex Workday integrations using EIB, Workday Studio, Core Connectors (HCM, Payroll, Benefits, Financials), Document Transformation, PECI/PICOF, and Web Services (SOAP/REST)
Configure and maintain business processes, condition rules, calculated fields, custom validations, security policies, and custom objects
Build and support advanced custom reports, matrix reports, composite reports, worksheets, and dashboards
Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve integration failures and data inconsistencies in production
Optimize existing integrations for performance, reliability, and scalability
Develop and automate scheduled report delivery to business stakeholders
Provide Tier-3 technical support to HR, Payroll, Finance, and end-user community
Create and maintain technical design documents, data flow diagrams, and configuration guides
Participate in change control, testing cycles, and bi-annual Workday release management
Required Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field AND minimum 2 years of enterprise system support/administration experience.
OR
6 years of progressive IT experience in the lieu of degree (year-for-year substitution, max 4 years)
Minimum 3 years of hands-on Workday development experience in a production or implementation environment
Expert-level proficiency in:
– Workday Studio
– Enterprise Interface Builder (EIB)
– Core Connectors & Cloud Connect (Benefits, Payroll, Financials)
– XSLT 2.0 / XML
– REST & SOAP web services
– Workday Report Writer (Advanced, Matrix, Composite)
– Calculated Fields, Business Process Framework, Security Configuration
Proven track record delivering integrations with 3rd-party systems (ADP, UKG, Benefit providers, Banks, etc.)
Full lifecycle Workday implementation or major post-production support experience as primary technical resource
Preferred Qualifications
Active Workday Certifications (Integrations, HCM Core, Financials, Report Writer, Studio, Prism, etc.)
Experience with Workday Extend
Prior public-sector or large county/municipal government experience
Workday Prism Analytics experience
