Position Summary:
Ensures IWC and IWRC grounds, equipment and buildings are maintained.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Must keep inventory of needed supplies and inform supervisor of any large expenditures.
- Check all outside automatic lights and replace as necessary.
- Monthly check of all overhead lights and change bulbs as necessary.
- Change air conditioning filters monthly.
- Painting of miscellaneous buildings and rooms as requested by Supervisor.
- Carry a cell phone and split on call duties.
- Perform monthly preventative maintenance.
- Complete maintenance requests when received from supervisor.
- Ensure that all vans are running smoothly, gassed, cleaned and maintained.
- Assist in moving furniture and other heavy items.
- Repair toys, materials, wheelchairs, etc. as needed.
- Help with snow removal in season.
- Carry out projects as requested by supervisor.
Non-Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Maintain acceptable driving record, and report any tickets/accidents to immediate supervisor or Human Resources Director.

Qualifications:
Education/Training:
Graduation from High School or successful completion of GED program.
Necessary Special Qualifications:
Must be eighteen years of age or older and possess a valid North Carolina Driver’s License, a clean NC Healthcare Registry check and criminal background.
Special Skills/Abilities:
Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Ability to communicate with other staff and members of the community.
Contacts Inside/Outside Organization:
All departments across IWC and IWRC. External vendors. Board Members, Parents, Volunteer organizations, DHHS (life safety and Licensing), MCO/LME, local fire marshal, health inspector and county government officials as needed.
Other Qualifications or Requirements:
Mental Effort: Ability to understand and follow complex verbal and written instructions. Have ability to function independently. Must be able to make sound decisions and respond professionally/calmly in emergency situations. Must be able to work under pressure and in a fast paced environment.
Visual Effort: Must be able to read small print in different lighting environments and have a good field of vision
Physical Requirement: Must be able to lift 40 lbs. independently.
Safety: Must be familiar with and able to follow OSHA Guidelines and Universal Precautions. Personal Hygiene should include neat clean appearance.
Working Conditions: Employees will work in all types of working conditions including cold weather during snow removal, hot temperatures during mowing season, etc.
