Maintenance Tech

Description

Position Summary:

Ensures IWC and IWRC grounds, equipment and buildings are maintained.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Must keep inventory of needed supplies and inform supervisor of any large expenditures.
2. Check all outside automatic lights and replace as necessary.
3. Monthly check of all overhead lights and change bulbs as necessary.
4. Change air conditioning filters monthly.
5. Painting of miscellaneous buildings and rooms as requested by Supervisor.
6. Carry a cell phone and split on call duties.
7. Perform monthly preventative maintenance.
8. Complete maintenance requests when received from supervisor.
9. Ensure that all vans are running smoothly, gassed, cleaned and maintained.
10. Assist in moving furniture and other heavy items.
11. Repair toys, materials, wheelchairs, etc. as needed.
12. Help with snow removal in season.
13. Carry out projects as requested by supervisor.

Non-Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Maintain acceptable driving record, and report any tickets/accidents to immediate supervisor or Human Resources Director.

Qualifications:

Education/Training:

Graduation from High School or successful completion of GED program. 

Necessary Special Qualifications: 

Must be eighteen years of age or older and possess a valid North Carolina Driver’s License, a clean NC Healthcare Registry check and criminal background.

Special Skills/Abilities: 

Ability to follow oral and written instructions.   Ability to communicate with other staff and members of the community.

Contacts Inside/Outside Organization:

All departments across IWC and IWRC.  External vendors. Board Members, Parents, Volunteer organizations, DHHS (life safety and Licensing), MCO/LME, local fire marshal, health inspector and county government officials as needed.

Other Qualifications or Requirements:

Mental Effort:                          Ability to understand and follow complex verbal and written instructions.  Have ability to function independently.  Must be able to make sound decisions and respond professionally/calmly in emergency situations.  Must be able to work under pressure and in a fast paced environment.

Visual Effort:                           Must be able to read small print in different lighting environments and have a good field of vision     

Physical Requirement:            Must be able to lift 40 lbs. independently. 

Safety:                                     Must be familiar with and able to follow OSHA Guidelines and Universal Precautions.  Personal Hygiene should include neat clean appearance. 

Working Conditions:               Employees will work in all types of working conditions including cold weather during snow removal, hot temperatures during mowing season, etc.
