A Data Center Technician II is a mid-level role responsible for ensuring the reliable operation of data center infrastructure through advanced hardware support, incident resolution, and process improvement. Building on foundational technical knowledge, this position involves leading routine complex maintenance task and collaborating with engineering and operations teams to support uptime and performance goals. The role demands strong troubleshooting skills, operational discipline, and adherence to best practices in data center management. This opportunity will have a rotational schedule with a premium rate.

Job requirements
- Intermediate understanding of computer hardware, networking, and data center infrastructure.
- High proficiency in troubleshooting hardware issues and performing component replacements.
- Expert in cable management, labeling standards, and physical network setup.
- Experience using ticketing systems and asset tracking tools.
- Intermediate knowledge of operating systems such as Linux or Windows Server. Comfortable working in a command line interface.
- Strong communication skills and ability to follow technical documentation and procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret technical diagrams and standard operating procedures.
- Relevant certifications preferred (e.g., CompTIA A , Server , Cisco CCT, BICSI Installer).
- Use of industry standard test equipment as well as troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
Other important requirements:
- Pre-employment screening, including background check and substance testing may be required according to company policies.
- Must provide own steel-toed work boots; other PPE will be supplied.
- Must be able to reliably commute to the site in Childress, Texas or have plans to relocate before starting work.
- Must be able to lift up to 49 lbs.
- Must participate in a 24/7 on call rotation.
Job responsibilities
The Data Center Technician II will focus on the following as well as other job-related duties and/or projects as assigned.
- Perform advanced installation, maintenance, and repair of servers, storage systems, and networking hardware.
- Acts as a highly skilled subject matter support expert for customer installations, including rack and stack, cages, overhead cable trays and fiber troughs, cabinets and cable management/support systems.
- Test and troubleshoot copper and fiber optic circuits.
- Support change management processes, including equipment decommissioning, physical migrations, and component upgrades.
- Perform migrations of equipment, power, or networking devices.
- Receive, install, and test customer and internal cross connects of copper and fiber optic interconnections.
- Follow and enforce security protocols for physical access, data protection, and equipment handling.
- Collaborate with remote engineering teams to support system deployments, upgrades, and incident resolutions.
- Ensure relevant documentation such as cluster design and layouts, available servers, inventory, etc. is maintained and updated as needed.
- Maintain accurate inventory records for all HPC hardware and associated components.

- Proficient understanding of data center facility systems, server hardware, storage arrays, networking, and operating systems.
- Detail-oriented focus, ensuring systems are both robust and efficient.
- Quick and effective at diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and connectivity issues in a high-pressure environment.
- Takes ownership of tasks, systems, and continuous improvement initiatives as well as respond effectively to shifting priorities.
