Position Summary
Troutman Middle School is seeking a collaborative and highly skilled Instructional Facilitator to support teachers, enhance instructional practice, and help strengthen student outcomes. This position aligns with North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) expectations for instructional leadership and Iredell-Statesville Schools’ commitment to rigorous instruction, data-driven decision-making, and continuous school improvement.
The Instructional Facilitator works closely with administrators, PLCs, and classroom teachers to provide coaching, model effective teaching strategies, and support implementation of the NC Standard Course of Study.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Instructional Coaching & Teacher Support
Provide ongoing instructional coaching cycles, including observations, feedback, modeling lessons, and co-teaching.
Support teachers in developing standard-aligned lesson plans and using evidence-based instructional practices.
Facilitate PLCs focused on data analysis, instructional planning, and student response strategies.
Guide staff in implementing the NC Standard Course of Study, district curriculum resources, and I-SS instructional expectations.
Data-Driven Instruction
Assist teachers in analyzing NWEA MAP, Check-Ins, EVAAS, classroom assessments, and MTSS progress monitoring data.
Support the school's MTSS framework, including Tier 1 instructional planning, Tier 2/Tier 3 interventions, and data-based problem solving.
Monitor student progress and collaborate with teams to design targeted instructional strategies.
Professional Development Leadership
Plan, deliver, and evaluate professional learning aligned with I-SS instructional priorities and the School Improvement Plan.
Provide training in curriculum resources, instructional technology platforms (Canvas, NCEdCloud tools, etc.), and classroom management frameworks.
Mentor beginning teachers in alignment with NC BTSP guidelines.
School Leadership & Collaboration
Serve as a member of the School Improvement Team, MTSS team, and other committees as assigned.
Collaborate with administrators to support instructional initiatives, strategic planning, and school improvement processes.
Promote a culture of continuous improvement, high expectations, and strong relationships.
Communicate effectively with teachers, support staff, families, and district personnel.
Qualifications
Required
Valid North Carolina teaching license in a relevant area.
Minimum five years of successful classroom teaching experience, preferably at the middle school level.
Deep knowledge of the NC Standard Course of Study, instructional best practices, and assessment design.
Strong interpersonal, coaching, leadership, and communication skills.
Preferred
Experience as a coach, mentor, PLC lead, or instructional leader.
Experience with MTSS, data teams, or school improvement processes.
Advanced degrees, NBCT certification, or specialized certifications (AIG, Reading, ESL).
Familiarity with I-SS tools and expectations (e.g., K-12 Reading Plan, Canvas, district pacing guides, MTSS protocols).
Working Conditions
10-month calendar aligned to the I-SS district schedule.
Primarily school-based with occasional district meetings or trainings.
Requires flexibility to support teachers before/after the school day as needed.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary based on NC State Teacher Salary Schedule plus I-SS local supplement.
Full benefits through NCDPI / State of North Carolina, including health, retirement, and leave.
