OVERVIEW & PURPOSE:


A Park Attendant for the Iredell County Parks and Recreation Department will be responsible for the opening and closing of parks, maintaining cleanliness and safety of park grounds, working with public to answer general questions, and serving as the onsite point of contact for all events, contacting the Sports Events and Facilities Manager with problems that need immediate attention. A person in this role will check the facility’s restrooms to keep them stocked with supplies and empties trash cans around the park when full. The Park Attendant will also be responsible for providing excellent customer service to all patrons of their facility and enforcing all departmental and facility specific rules and regulations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


Responsible for the opening and closing of parks, maintaining cleanliness and safety of parks grounds. Ability to provide excellent customer service. Maintains restrooms for cleanliness, keeping them stocked, and empties trash cans around the park when full. Serves as the on-site point of contact for all patrons during assigned shift. Ensures that all athletic fields are safe and ready for play by helping to move game equipment or related apparatus into place. Enforces all departmental and facility specific rules and regulations. Conducts post-rental evaluations for and cleans community buildings including sweeping, mopping and ensuring overall facility cleanliness. Schedules shifts may include responsivities at multiple sites, and require travel between location. Operate County owned vehicles & equipment, as needed. Other duties as needed and assigned.


SAFETY: The Park Attendant will be responsible for minimizing risks for each participant on athletic fields and the facility as a whole through inspections of equipment, correct setup, maintaining the facility, and reporting oversaturation levels or safety concerns to supervisor. A person in this role will also be responsible for ensuring patrons are using parking lots correctly and that the entrances and exits to the parking lots are free and open for emergency services access. A Park Attendant must be able to calmly and professionally explain park rules and local ordinances to patrons to ensure safe and proper park enjoyment.


EMERGENCY PROCEDURES: Understands emergency procedures and is comfortable responding to situations in a professional and calm demeanor.

PHYSICAL: Must be able to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and or up to 25 pounds of force constantly to move objects.   Daily exposure to weather and temperature changes. Position works outdoors.


COMMUNICATION: Excellent communication skills, including verbal, written, and listening are required. Ability ot accurately record amenity usage data at the parks.


JUDGMENT: Uses good judgment while making independent decisions regarding all facets of the safe and effective use of county equipment and facilities.


DEPENDABILITY: Available on a regular basis to work as scheduled, primarily nights and weekends as events dictate. Arrives on site on time. Follows procedures.

Ability to handle unexpected circumstances and must have a developed understanding of teamwork and communication.  Ability to work with other people and enforce procedures.  Strong attention to detail.


Safety-conscious, mature, confident with work alone or with a team, calm, creative, encouraging, patient, and positive.  


EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE “REQUIREMENTS”:


Must have High School Diploma/GED or higher. Training or experience with event management & sanitation is preferred.  


ADDITIONAL “REQUIREMENTS”:


Must possess a valid North Carolina Driver’s License.


First Aid and CPR Certificates are a plus OR be willing to obtain through offered training.
