What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Algorithm Engineer – CT Image Post-Processing position at iRay Imaging LLC?
About the Role:
We are seeking a Senior Algorithm Engineer to lead the design and development of advanced CT image post-processing modules for our next-generation medical imaging platform. This is a product-focused role, ideal for someone passionate about turning robust algorithms into reliable, scalable, and clinically impactful software.
You will contribute to or lead the development of post-processing solutions across multiple CT imaging domains — including CT perfusion, vessel analysis, lung and cardiac quantification, and 3D visualization — using either traditional computational methods or AI-driven techniques. Expertise in one of these areas is essential; experience in both is a strong plus.
Key Responsibilities:
- Architect and implement production-ready algorithms for CT image post-processing, including: brain/liver/tumor perfusion, vascular analysis, coronary analysis, lung quantification, virtual endoscopy, 3D visualization, and automated tissue segmentation
- appropriate computational techniques (traditional or AI-based) depending on use case constraints (accuracy, speed, robustness).
- Integrate algorithms into real-world clinical pipelines and work closely with software engineers on deployment.
- Benchmark algorithm performance, conduct ablation studies, and support clinical validation efforts.
Required Qualifications:
- M.S. or Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering, Medical Imaging, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or a related field.
- 5 years of hands-on experience in CT image processing algorithm development, with a track record of product delivery.
- Deep expertise in at least one of the following: Classical imaging algorithms: segmentation, registration, deconvolution, morphology, thresholding; AI-based approaches: deep learning for 2D/3D medical image analysis (U-Net, V-Net, transformers, etc.)
- Strong coding skills in Python, C , or MATLAB.
- Proficiency with medical image formats and libraries: DICOM, NIfTI, SimpleITK, NiBabel, OpenCV, etc.
- Experience working with clinical imaging data in real-world workflows (brain, chest, or cardiac CT).
Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have):
· Experience in both traditional and deep learning-based methods for medical image analysis.
· Familiarity with clinical perfusion analysis, stroke imaging, or cardiac CTA.
· Knowledge of or experience contributing to FDA-cleared or CE-marked medical software products.
· Hands-on experience with AI frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or MONAI.
· Familiarity with real-time 3D visualization platforms (e.g., VTK, Slicer, MeVisLab).
