We are a busy, multi-carrier insurance brokerage partnered with 20 carriers, including many of the industry's top disability and life insurers. We're looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Individual Insurance New Business Specialist to join our IRA Brokerage team. In this role, you'll manage individual insurance applications from start to finish, helping ensure a smooth process from application submission to policy issuance to policy service. You'll also serve as a key point of contact, coordinating clear communication between agents, carrier partners, and internal marketing team. Responsibilities
- Review and process new business applications for disability income and life insurance.
- Ensure applications comply with underwriting guidelines.
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date records and documentation, identifying and preventing errors before they impact workflow.
- Support the underwriting process by tracking new business applications from submission through approval.
- Manage confidential information, including ordering, reviewing and tracking medical records and other sensitive documents.
- Enter and maintain application and policy data in the Client Relationship Management (CRM) system accurately and efficiently.
- Handle processing of policy service requests, including reinstatements and conversions.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with insurance carriers, agents, and internal teams via phone and email.
- Monitor follow-ups and provide updates to support efficient case management.
- Facilitate weekly underwriting meetings.
Experience
- Required to hold a current life insurance license with the state of Michigan.
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and consistency.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience with CRM systems or insurance industry software is a plus.
