Job Summary:
The Metrology Specialist supports laboratory operations by performing qualification,
calibration, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair activities for
analytical and process instrumentation, with a priority focus on regulated equipment.
This role helps maintain equipment lifecycle documentation, supports software
validation activities, and contributes to instrument readiness and operational
continuity.
What You'll Be Doing:
• Perform scheduled and unscheduled qualification, calibration, preventive
maintenance, and repair activities for laboratory instrumentation and
equipment
• Install and qualify new equipment and coordinate vendor installation and
qualification when needed
• Troubleshoot instrumentation and equipment issues, diagnose root causes,
and complete repairs when appropriate or coordinate with internal teams and
external vendors to minimize downtime
• Maintain lifecycle documentation, calibration records, standard operating
procedures, and audit-ready equipment files in accordance with applicable
procedures
• Establish and maintain preventive maintenance programs, risk assessments,
and inventory records for instruments, consumables, and spare parts
• Support software validation activities in collaboration with vendors and
internal information technology teams
• Take initiative to investigate technical issues through self-study and problem
solving while escalating complex issues to metrology leadership when needed
What We Are Looking For:
• Associate's Degree in electronics or mechanical technology or closely related
field required
• One or more years of experience working with liquid chromatography mass
spectrometry equipment and instrumentation
• Experience working in a regulated environment such as good laboratory
practice or good manufacturing practice
• Related hands-on experience in calibration and repair of measuring and test
equipment
• Related hands-on experience troubleshooting laboratory equipment,
diagnosing issues, and helping resolve process problems
• Other Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be
accepted in lieu of degree
The Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Needed for This Role:
• Proficient with Windows and Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Excel
• Effective organizational and interpersonal skills with the ability to handle
multiple tasks simultaneously
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy with the ability to establish and
maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, managers, clients,
and vendors
• Effective communication and presentation skills
• Ability to work independently, take initiative, and apply structured problem
solving in a laboratory setting
