Art Director, Medical & Scientific Communication

JOB SUMMARY

The Art Director will be responsible for the team’s adherence to project guidelines and be a key driver on creative’s quality of delivery. The Art Director will lead the management and adherence to style guides for team, artists, graphic designers, presentation specialist and other professionals. She will assist and contribute direction on design thematic and campaigns. The Art Director will partner with the Creative Director in hiring and supervising models, artists, vendors, and other professionals.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Contribute to the art direction and implementation of brand, products, and marketing programs
  • Direct and manage team contributors’ output from both aesthetic and technical delivery aspects
  • Design and produce visually compelling graphics/content that will be used in project initiatives
  • Ensure visual consistency of customer experience and brand voice across various deliverables
  • Conceptualize and create design mockups to client specifications
  • Effectively communicate conceptual ideas and design rationale, while also being open to feedback and direction
  • Leverage creative direction and tactical input of team members to bring concepts to completion
  • Provide creative solutions and fresh design ideas that adhere to brand guidelines
  • Strive to help team improve creative quality and consistency across all categories of deliverables

External Team Management

  • Manage and delegate work to freelance pool
  • Develop and determine the processes to engage, hand-off and manage projects distributed to external team members
  • Collaborate with Creative Director to evaluate, identify and engage with external resource talent
  • Identify needed resources for teams to deliver client business

Internal Team Management

  • Direct, Correct, Develop, and Encourage staff to grow and learn – by creating opportunities to assume new responsibilities, expand skill sets, and provide constructive feedback 
  • Create a positive work environment, fostering a team approach, and encourage open communication
  • Weekly one-on-one meetings with all direct reports
  • Assign projects to staff in accordance with staff experience, growth, and bandwidth.
  • Consult with other departments and cross-functional team members to deliver projects as needed inclusive of changes in scope, priority, timing, and/or content

OTHER DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare weekly timesheet
  • Manage and attend relevant internal meetings, as assigned
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Manage multiple projects while effectively managing timelines and expectations
  • Collaborate with various team members to gather input, requirements, and feedback to optimize timeliness and relevance of work products to execute design concepts that deliver on goals and are technically feasible to implement
  • Maintain archive of images, photos, or previous work products.
  • Assist with activities such as photography, photo editing, video editing, web updates, email campaigns, creation of promotional tools, and other activities as needed

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES NEEDED TO PERFORM THIS ROLE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, computer graphics, marketing, advertising, or related field required  
  • 8 to 12 years of experience in medical communications, marketing or advertising preferred
  • 5 to 7 years of AOR healthcare commercial experience (building and designing deliverables such as websites, brochures, materials, emailers, etc.)
  • Demonstrated experience of highly creative designs for digital and print
  • Advanced level skills with Microsoft Office (PowerPoint and Word), Adobe Creative Suite, Adobe Acrobat Pro and other industry standard digital software
  • Familiarity with both Mac and Windows environments
  • Demonstrated experience applying best practices in user interface and interactive design
  • Proven ability to identify key deliverables and implement a creative schedule that meets all stakeholder needs.
  • Ability to take initiative and ownership of projects
  • Excellent organization and communication skills
  • Strong communicator both in written and verbal forms with a proven ability to effectively establish and nurture client, internal, and staff relationships
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities. Strong organization and time management skills
  • Great team player with a strong drive and willingness to take initiative
  • Curiosity and aptitude for continuous thinking, learning and collaboration

The potential base pay range for this role, when annualized, is $91,400.00 - $167,500.00. The actual base pay offered may vary based on a number of factors including job-related qualifications such as knowledge, skills, education, and experience; location; and/or schedule (full or part-time). Dependent on the position offered, incentive plans, bonuses, and/or other forms of compensation may be offered, in addition to a range of health and welfare and/or other benefits.

Salary : $91,400 - $167,500
