Position summary
The Director of Mechanical Services is a senior leadership position responsible for the strategic direction and operational management of our firm's mechanical / plumbing services division. Reporting directly to IPT Corp’s Managing Director / CFO, this individual will lead a team of project managers, field technicians and admin staff to deliver high-quality, profitable, and timely projects. The Director will be expected to drive division growth via geographical expansion, ensure technical excellence, and maintain strong, long-term client relationships.

Key responsibilities

Leadership and strategic planning

  • Provide overall leadership and develop strategic direction for the mechanical division based upon corporate goals.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to meet or exceed business growth and profitability targets.
  • Assist corporate management with expansion into additional metropolitan locations by refining operations here in the MD/DC/VA region which then can be implemented in an efficient, profit driven manner elsewhere.
  • Foster a culture of technical excellence, accountability, and safety across all field and office operations.
  • Collaborate with senior management to align departmental goals with the company's broader objectives.

Operational management

  • Oversee all operational tasks, from initial client contact and estimation to completion and post-project follow-up.
  • Monitor departmental finances, including budgeting, forecasting, and monitoring P&L performance.
  • Ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget while maintaining the highest quality standards.
  • Establish and enforce best practices and standard operating procedures for all mechanical services and installations.

Team leadership and development

  • Recruit, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of project managers, admin staff and field technicians.
  • Provide regular coaching and conduct performance reviews to support the professional growth of team members.
  • Ensure that all staff members have the necessary training, licenses, and certifications.

Business development and client relations

  • Lead new business development initiatives and contribute to securing multi-million-dollar projects.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential clients, acting as a key liaison and trusted advisor.
  • Represent the firm at industry events to promote brand loyalty and drive growth.
  • Address and resolve customer problems or disputes effectively and with a focus on client satisfaction.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field; a Master's degree is a plus.
  • 10 years of progressive leadership experience in commercial mechanical services, construction, or a related industry.
  • Proven track record of managing departmental P&L and driving revenue growth.
  • Extensive technical knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and building automation systems.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with project estimating tools and Microsoft office products.

Pay: From $150,000.00 per year
