The role
As Maintenance Supervisor, you will be responsible for ensuring that all machinery and equipment are running efficiently and effectively, contributing to our commitment to high-quality production and operational excellence. As Supervisor, you will lead a team of skilled technicians, providing direction, training, and support while overseeing all maintenance activities. This position requires someone with strong technical knowledge of manufacturing processes and equipment, a passion for problem-solving, together with the ability to implement preventative maintenance programs. The Maintenance Supervisor will work closely with production management to minimize downtime, improve operational reliability, and maintain compliance with safety and environmental regulations. You will bring a proactive attitude, excellent leadership skills, and a hands-on approach to maintenance operations.

- Manage and promote a culture of Safety First that is aligned to IPL values and initiatives
- Supervise and lead the maintenance team to ensure efficient operations.
- Contribute to and implement SOP’s for all areas of maintenance
- Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs for all equipment.
- Respond to equipment breakdowns promptly and troubleshoot issues effectively.
- Coordinate and schedule maintenance activities to minimize production downtime.
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs and reports on all machinery and repairs.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Train and mentor maintenance staff to enhance their skills and performance.
- Participate in all scheduled site meetings and deliver actions as assigned
- Manage and monitor Maintenance KPI’s
- NVQ Level 3, HNC/HND, or equivalent in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
- Time-served apprenticeship in industrial maintenance (preferred)
- 3–5 years of hands-on maintenance experience in a plastics injection molding environment
- Previous experience supervising or leading a small maintenance team
- Strong working knowledge of injection molding machines
- Experience with hydraulic, pneumatic,electrical and automation systems
- Familiarity with basic PLC troubleshooting
- Understanding of preventive and reactive maintenance practices
- Knowledge of health & safety regulations and safe systems of work
- Experience using CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) an advantage
- Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting skills (mechanical and electrical)
- Ability to prioritize and coordinate maintenance tasks effectively
- Good understanding of mold/tooling maintenance and changeover procedures
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for team coordination
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
- Proactive approach to identifying and resolving equipment issues
- Basic computer literacy (e.g., MS Office, maintenance software)
- Leadership skills to motivate and guide technicians
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety
- Flexibility to work shifts or respond to breakdowns outside normal hours
