We are seeking a full-time Graphic Designer to play an essential role in producing the Peabody Essex Museum’s marketing and exhibition communications. This position focuses on executing high-quality design work across print and digital platforms while supporting larger design initiatives led by senior members of the creative team. The Graphic Designer contributes to a wide range of museum communications including exhibition promotion, event marketing, digital assets, signage, publications, and web content. This role requires a strong eye for design, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to translate established design direction into consistent, scalable outputs across formats and platforms. The ideal candidate is highly motivated and embraces collaboration, takes initiative in exploring design solutions, and can adapt readily to evolving tools and workflows. Working in a collaborative and fast-paced environment, the Graphic Designer partners with colleagues across Marketing, Curatorial, Editorial, and other departments to help bring the museum’s programs and exhibitions to life.
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree and one to three years of experience. A high-level proficiency on Mac platform hardware and design software, including Adobe Creative Suite, with an openness to learning and adopting new tools as the team's needs evolve. A thorough understanding of typography, layout, and brand systems, with the ability to apply them consistently across a range of formats. Strong online portfolio demonstrating typography and layout skills, digital and print design, campaign and marketing design, and production-ready work. Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across a variety of teams and working styles. Sound problem-solving skills and the ability to explore design solutions with a degree of independence. Excellent organizational and time management skills.
A familiarity with CMS platforms; experience with Figma or similar collaborative design tools; experience designing for museums, cultural institutions, or nonprofits; knowledge of accessibility standards for digital graphics is preferred, but not required.
