Adjunct Instructor- Continuing Education

Turn your passion and experience into an opportunity! The Continuing Education Department is continuously accepting applications for part-time instructors to teach career certificates, professional development, and person enrichment non-credit courses in their area of expertise. Courses are presented in varying formats lasting from one day to several weeks. Start dates and times will vary according to the course offering. Instructors will prepare and present course material during the assigned course times, coordinate materials with the Program Coordinator, and follow-up with necessary paperwork.

Continuing Education offers a wide variety of courses in areas including, but not limited to:

• Seasonal arts and crafts
• Yoga and wellness classes
• Retirement planning fundamentals
• Basic home repair skills
• Introductory courses to build confidence

Job Duties

Instructors are required to provide high quality instruction to their students. In addition, instructors will work with the coordinators to ensure attendance is taken, curriculum is up to date, syllabus is accurate, and final reporting is completed.

Qualifications

• High School diploma and expertise or experience relevant to the course topic required
• Ability to pass a background check
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to engage and motivate diverse groups of people and ability to articulate in both small and large group settings
• Professional demeanor and reliability
• Effective time management to ensure classes run smoothly and on schedule
• Adaptability and ability to respond to participant needs in real time
• Excellent customer service skills
• Positive attitude and ability to function collaboratively as part of a customer-oriented team
• Regular, prompt and reliable attendance
• Ability to pass a background check

Physical Demands

• Ability to lift up to 10 lbs
• The employee frequently is required to sit for extended periods of time and use hands to operate computer keyboard, telephone and basic office equipment
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear
• Ability to drive company owned or personal vehicle.
