What are the responsibilities and job description for the Secondary Paraeducator (2026-2027) position at Iowa Valley Community School District?
Iowa Valley CSD is looking for a paraeducator in our secondary building (7-12). Iowa Valley is located in Marengo, Iowa, which is approx. 30 west of the Cedar Rapids/Iowa City corridor and approx. 15 minutes north of I-80.
Our ideal candidate will:
- Assist the classroom teacher in delivering lessons, activities, and assignments to students.
- Provide individualized and small group instruction to students, reinforcing learning and concepts under the teacher's guidance.
- Support students with special needs, providing accommodations and modifications to help them succeed in the classroom.
- Help manage student classroom behavior and maintain a positive, productive learning environment.
- Assist students with daily activities, including organization, transitions, and following routines.
- Monitor students during lunch, recess, and other non-classroom settings.
- Maintain communication with the classroom teacher regarding student progress, behavior, and any concerns.
- Assist with the preparation and organization of instructional materials and resources.
- Support students with physical, social, or emotional needs, providing guidance and assistance as necessary.
- Observe and report student behavior and learning progress to the teacher, contributing to the development of student IEPs (Individualized Education Plans) when appropriate.
- Maintain confidentiality of student records and information.
- Attend professional development sessions and school meetings as required.
- Other duties as required.
