Summary: The Student Manager oversees the day-to-day operations of the school's live streaming channel while supervising and mentoring three Student Workers. This leadership role ensures all productions - including athletic events, Esports competitions, Battle Bots, and campus activities - are professionally coordinated, technically sound, and visually engaging. In addition to managing workflow, scheduling, and training, the Student Manager acts as the primary student liaison between the production team and faculty/staff supervisors.
Schedule: • Flexible schedule; evening and weekend work regularly required. Leadership commitment: 8-12 hours per week depending on event calendar.

Essential Job Duties
- Supervise three Student Workers, providing guidance, scheduling, and quality control for each broadcast.
- Act as the Lead Producer on event days, overseeing setup, live operation, and teardown of equipment.
- Assign roles to student workers (camera operator, switcher, graphics, audio) and ensure all positions run smoothly.
- Conduct pre-event checks (equipment readiness, stream tests, graphics prep).
- Serve as the main student point of contact for coaches, event coordinators, and faculty to confirm broadcast needs.
- Troubleshoot technical and workflow issues during events, escalating to faculty/staff advisor if necessary.
- Train new student workers on equipment setup, OBS/live switching software, and proper streaming procedures.
- Maintain production calendar and coordinate worker availability for each assignment.
- Lead student team meetings, including post-event debriefs to evaluate successes and areas of improvement.
- Ensure standards of professionalism, audience engagement, and broadcast quality are met consistently.
- Assist with social media posting and highlight edits when needed.
- Track equipment usage, coordinate equipment check-out with student workers, and report issues to supervisor.
- Current student at Iowa Valley Community College District.
- Completion of at least one semester as a Student Worker - Live Streaming Channel (preferred).
- Demonstrated ability to manage small teams and take initiative.
- Strong knowledge of live streaming systems (OBS, Streamlabs, switchers), audio, video, and graphics workflows.
- Excellent organization, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Dependable leader and role model able to remain calm under live-event pressure.
- Must be physically able to assist with setup/breakdown of equipment (up to 40 lbs).
