Grandstand Security is responsible for maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for guests, performers, staff, and vendors in the Grandstand, Elwell Family Park, and Free Entertainment Stages at the Iowa State Fair. This role provides front-line security support by screening patrons, monitoring venue activity, enforcing safety policies, and responding quickly and professionally to incidents during concerts and events.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct guest entry screening, including bag checks, ticket verification support, and patron scanning using security screening equipment.
- Inspect bags and personal belongings in accordance with venue policies to identify prohibited items and maintain a safe environment.
- Operate metal detectors, handheld screening devices, and other security technology to screen guests entering the venue.
- Provide courteous and professional customer service while enforcing venue rules and safety procedures.
- Monitor crowds, guest behavior, and venue areas to identify potential safety concerns or security issues.
- Assist with crowd control, line management, and maintaining orderly guest movement throughout the venue.
- Respond promptly to emergencies, disturbances, medical situations, and other incidents while following established response procedures.
- Assist with evacuations, emergency drills, and crisis response when needed.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, security teams, venue staff, and emergency personnel.
- Remove or report prohibited items and address policy violations in a professional manner.
- Maintain a visible security presence throughout concerts, events, and high-traffic areas.
- Complete incident reports and documentation accurately when required.
- Protect venue property, equipment, performers, staff, and guests.
