COMPANY BACKGROUND:
The Iowa Primary Care Association (Iowa PCA) has supported Iowa’s community health centers for over 36 years to expand access to affordable, high quality, integrated care. The Iowa PCA, along with our sister companies INConcertCare (INCC) and IowaHealth (IH ), provides training, technical assistance, and shared services opportunities in quality improvement, value-based care, health information technology, and other areas. We are now expanding our services through a new partnership with Iowa Health and Human Services to serve as the new statewide Behavioral Health Administrative Service Organization (BH-ASO). It’s an exciting opportunity to expand our efforts and connection to the broader behavioral health safety net.
PURPOSE OF POSITION
The Data Wrangler will be responsible for extracting, transforming, validating, and securely transferring large volumes of healthcare data across internal and external systems. Your work will support clinical, operational, and compliance teams to make data-driven decisions while maintaining data integrity and HIPAA compliance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ingest, clean, validate, and format healthcare datasets from multiple sources including EHRs, claims data, and third-party vendors.
- Develop and maintain SQL queries and scripts for data extraction, manipulation, and reporting.
- Automate and monitor SFTP data transfers, ensuring secure and timely delivery of data files.
- Collaborate with data engineers, analysts, and compliance teams to ensure data accuracy and regulatory adherence.
- Document data workflows, data dictionaries, and standard operating procedures.
- Perform routine data quality checks and resolve discrepancies.
- Support ad-hoc data requests and internal reporting needs.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Bachelor’s degree required
Experience:
- 2 years of experience working with healthcare data (claims, EHR, patient, or clinical data).
- Strong proficiency in SQL for querying and transforming large datasets.
- Solid understanding and hands-on experience with SFTP protocols and tools
- Familiarity with data privacy and security regulations, especially HIPAA.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple data pipelines simultaneously.
Skills:
- Strong written and verbal communication, including experience presenting to diverse audiences.
- Proficiency with data systems and analytics tools (e.g., Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, Excel, PowerPoint, PowerBI).
- Self-motivated, results-oriented, and skilled in prioritizing multiple initiatives.
TELECOMMUTING AND TRAVEL:
- On-site work required at least two days per week, with travel across Iowa to support district operations and attend conferences or meetings.
