The Iowa Pork Producers Association (IPPA) is dedicated to supporting Iowa pig farmers in achieving success while enriching the lives of Iowans. Our mission includes promoting pork and pig production, educating consumers and farmers about responsible practices, and advocating for a sustainable, socially responsible, and globally competitive pork industry. Governed by a board of directors made up of pig farmers, allied industry members, and stakeholders, IPPA serves as a trusted leader in the agricultural industry across the state.
Qualifications/Background Requirements:
Education: College graduate with a journalism, communications, or public relations-related degree preferred.
Skills: Should possess excellent time management skills, an understanding of administrative procedures, ability to work with others, and strong verbal and written communication skills. Experience with website management, photography, video editing, and graphic design are a plus. A background in agriculture is desired.
Relevant Experience: At least one year of communication, journalism or public relations experience preferred. Knowledge of agriculture is preferred.
Position Responsibilities:
1. Work closely with the Communications Director to develop and enhance internal and external communications.
2. Provide direction and maintain content on the IPPA website.
3. Coordinate and maintain a cohesive association identity in all communications activities, printed or other.
4. Assist other staff in development and production of association handbooks, brochures, flyers, and other promotional or educational materials as directed.
5. Communicate the benefits of association programs to producers, consumers, and members of the community by being well briefed in all activities of the organization.
6. Foster and promote the concept, purposes, and programs of the Iowa Pork Producers Association.
