The Department of Pathology is seeking an Assistant Research Scientist who will be responsible for the procurement, preparation, and disbursement of human post-mortem brain tissue for the NIH NeuroBioBank contract, supervises associated staff members, manages all aspects of the workflow for the histologic workup of donated cases, and maintains inventory and the database for donor cases. Hours will be Monday-Friday from 8:00am-5:00pm.
This position is 100% time.
Duties to include:
· Performs and supervises procurement, processing, and disbursement of human post-mortem brain tissue
· Supervises and manages technical personnel associated with NeuroBioBank contract and INRL
· Oversees completion of all deliverables for the NeuroBioBank contract
· Assist with other tasks as directed by the INRL Director

Required Qualifications:
· Requires a PhD in pathology, neuroscience, biomedical science, or a related discipline.
· Experience with sample management/tracking or inventory management.
· Requires demonstrated human neuroanatomy knowledge.
· Previous experience supervising staff or students.
· Requires excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Professional experience working effectively with individuals from a variety of backgrounds and perspectives.
· Ability to multitask and efficiently prioritize tasks independently.
Desirable Qualifications:
· Certification in biorepository management (QBRS or equivalent).
· Previous brain banking or other biorepository management experience.
· Experience in designing experiments, gathering and recording data, and presenting results.
· Previous experience with outreach and education, particularly to potential brain donors.
· Experience with inventory/project management software.
· Experience with human or animal neuropathology.
· Ability to carry out research histology assays (particularly immunohistochemistry for human species).
