Duties
- Assist the dentist during a wide range of procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to optimize efficiency and patient comfort
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up necessary supplies, and maintaining aseptic technique standards in accordance with infection control protocols
- Take and develop dental X-rays using advanced medical imaging equipment such as 3D scanners and X-ray machines while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations for patient privacy
- Manage electronic medical records (EMR systems) like Archy, Eaglesoft, Dentrix, to accurately document treatment details, medical history, and dental terminology
- Perform vital signs assessments and monitor patient comfort throughout procedures, especially in pediatric dentistry settings
- Support administrative tasks including dental receptionist duties such as scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and managing patient flow efficiently
- Maintain knowledge of anatomy and dental terminology to effectively communicate with patients and team members about treatment plans and procedures
Qualifications
- Valid certification as a Registered Dental Assistant with current licensure in accordance with state requirements
- Proven experience in dental assisting within general dentistry or specialized fields such as pediatric dentistry or prosthodontics
- Proficiency in EMR systems including Dentrix, Eaglesoft, Epic or similar platforms for medical documentation and records management
- Strong understanding of infection control practices, aseptic technique, and sterilization procedures
- Ability to operate dental imaging equipment including X-ray machines and 3D scanners safely and effectively
- Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and medical coding standards relevant to dental procedures
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate with dentists, hygienists, patients (including pediatrics), and team members effectively
