The Event Security primarily maintains security access and control to all areas of the Owensboro Convention Center & Sportscenter. This includes making routine rounds throughout the facility, providing customer service to clients/patrons as they arrive at the complex, and assisting with all incidents as they may arise.

This role will pay an hourly rate of $15.00.

Western Kentucky's award-winning venue-the Owensboro Convention Center-is a full-service facility overlooking the scenic Ohio River in revitalized downtown Owensboro, Kentucky. The multi-purpose center boasts just under 102,000 sq. ft. of available space, including a 44,000 sq. ft. exhibition hall, the 8,900 sq. ft. Kentucky Legend Pier outside over the scenic Ohio River, and additional ballroom, meeting, and pre-function space.

• Provide guest safety and security of the venue assigned with an emphasis on customer service.
• Enforce all venue regulations and policies.
• Help support security in an environment with large groups of guests.
• Interact with other staff in a positive and productive manner.
• Maintain control of your assigned sections or area.
• Adapt to changing environments.
• Perform bag checks and security inspections as directed at required events.
• Anticipate and correct any trouble situations in your area.
• Know general building information and locations of various amenities.
• Ensure areas are safe for patrons and staff.
• Follow verbal and written instructions.
• Work in adverse weather conditions as needed (heat, cold, rain, snow, wind, etc).
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Prior security experience is preferred, but not required.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Must demonstrate a positive, professional, and customer-focused attitude.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to manage a high-stress, fast-paced environment.
• Able to work flexible hours, nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Must be able to handle adverse situations such as inebriated guests, argumentative guests, volatile-angry guests and related incidents in a calm and professional manner.
