Food Service Staff - Head Start & Early Head Start

WCCA seeks a Food Service staff member for our Red Oak Early Head Start & Head Start Classrooms. 

The Food Service staff member works under the direction of the Education Support Coordinator providing safe, healthy, nutritious meals for children. The Food Service staff member supervises all on-site food handling and is responsible for maintaining accurate and thorough records for the food program. The following tasks will be accomplished in accordance with the written Head Start Program Performance Standards, Head Start Policies and Procedures, and state licensing codes.

Duties include serving breakfast, snack, and lunch in a catered site, supervision of food handling, washing dishes, and maintaining appropriate nutrition or dietary records for our Head Start classrooms.

Education & Job Specific Requirements

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required.
• Prior experience working with food is preferred.
• Current, active & valid drivers' license & current, active and valid auto liability insurance and dependable transportation are required for the position.

• Maintain a valid CPR and Pediatric First Aid Certificate.

• Support other staff in creating a welcoming and supportive environment for children and families by adjusting own routines (when appropriate) to accommodate their needs, sharing pertinent information about children and families with appropriate staff, and working cooperatively as part of a program team.

• Ability to perform light physical work, exerting up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis, performing such activities as: lifting children, stooping, kneeling, crouching, grasping, sitting, running, catching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, and pulling.

• Support other staff in creating a welcoming and supportive environment for children and families by adjusting own routines (when appropriate) to accommodate their needs, sharing pertinent information about children and families with appropriate staff, and working cooperatively as part of a program team.

• Promote effective relationships within the community by speaking positively about the program and its staff, services, children, and families and by viewing the program as a valuable part of the community.

This 32.50 hour per week, year-round has benefits that include health, dental, life, vacation/sick pay, paid holidays, IPERS, and 403(B) retirement programs.
