QUALIFICATIONS :
- Physically able to work in a standing position for prolonged periods and to walk much of the time during the day.

REPORTS TO : Nutrition Services Director
SUPERVISES : Nutrition Services Assistant at assigned location
JOB GOAL : Assist in nutrition services as needed in order to enhance student learning, promote the overall efficiency of the school system, and maximize the educational opportunities available to each child.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Comply with required district, department and federal Child Nutrition policies as well as health standards, sanitation procedures and demonstrate knowledge of sanitation practices.
- Follow attendance rules, including absence notification procedures.
- Practice good personal hygiene.
- Manage multiple tasks and use time efficiently.
- Operate the point-of-sale computer system as cashier during serving times and perform basic accounting duties. Take deposits to the bank per district protocols.
- Follow federal Child Nutrition guidelines for privacy and handling of free and reduced student data.
- Work with school staff and Nutrition Office personnel to address negative accounts and notify families of negative balances.
- Works with the Nutrition Office and school nurse to identify students with allergies and intolerances and make sure they are served appropriate substitutions. Double check tray when checking each student out to ensure they haven’t received any restricted items.
- Assist with final preparation, assembly and portioning of menu items at satellite locations.
- May serve some menu items during meal service. Restock serving lines along with the server. Ensure the server is correctly portioning and serving all menu items.
- Is able to properly use food service satellite equipment including convection or microwave ovens, steam tables, cold serving tables, hot carts and other equipment.
- Follow written and oral directions. Responsible for maintaining district email account and checking regularly for correspondence.
- Communicate with building administration, Nutrition Office, production kitchen and school secretary, nurse and other personnel as needed on food or student issues.
- Must be able to perform with accuracy mathematical calculations including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- Completes assigned paperwork, including portion sheets and sanitation/temperature records.
- Be courteous and respectful to all customers and co-workers.
- Follows established sanitation guidelines for both food preparation and clean-up and performs clean up duties as assigned. Responsible for ensuring school kitchen and food service areas are properly cleaned and sanitized each day prior to leaving.
- Attends and completes district assigned training, which may include online or in person training.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT : 175 Contract Days Department and District required training. Work year as established by the Board of Directors. Wage established by district adopted salary schedules.
EVALUATION : Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
