QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in education or related field required
- Master’s degree in education or related field preferred
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in a K-12 education system preferred
- Leadership experience or project management preferred
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the District may find appropriate and acceptable

JOB GOAL(S):
Performs the full range of professional duties required to support the Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment Department including the performance of complex and/or sensitive activities; managing large-scale, long-term projects; and performs related duties as required or assigned.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plans and supervises the multifaceted activities to support secondary (grades 6-12) curriculum, instruction and assessment with the Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment and the Executive Directors of Elementary and Secondary Education.
- Plays a key role in developing strategies for achieving the goals contained within the Iowa City Community School District Strategic Plan and is accountable for outcomes.
- Assists the Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment with the planning of department policy and short- and long-term objectives.
- Leads projects, and may allocate resources - physical, fiscal, and human
- Ensures curricular, instructional, and assessment alignment with National, State, and local policies and standards
JOB SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides direction and leadership for curricular area programs consistent with District initiatives.
- Collaborates with the Director of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment and building administrators to plan and provide professional learning to content-area teachers.
- Supports collaborative teams and individual teachers in the process of aligning content, instruction, and assessments and content standards through
- developing common understandings that align with state and local standards;
- designing and delivering effective instruction that aligns with the agreed upon understandings, engages all students, and is differentiated to meet student needs;
- assessing, both formatively and summatively, to measure student learning, and sharing these assessments with collaborative teams to improve as teachers and as a system;
- working together to ensure all students are provided equitable educational experiences and achieve high levels of learning.
- Guides implementation of state requirements in the content area.
- Provides direction and leadership for the curriculum review process in accordance with the district review cycle.
- Guides implementation of the school improvement plan for the curricular area.
- Collects and analyzes district level assessment data to support the planning, implementation and evaluation of content standards.
- Assists with the coordination of Kirkwood Academies, 2-Year Degree Program, and Adult Education at Center for Innovation
- Other duties as assigned to the specific curricular discipline.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Year Round Position - Salary and calendar year to be evaluated in accordance with Board Policy of the Iowa City Community School District.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the District’s policy on Evaluation, State Statute, and any applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Salary : $79,102
