Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Extrusion Utility to join our dynamic manufacturing team. In this vital role, you will support the extrusion process by preparing materials, operating auxiliary equipment, and ensuring the smooth flow of production. Your energetic approach will help maintain high-quality standards and efficient operations across our extrusion lines.

Responsibilities

1. Material Handling & Forklift Operations:

• Operates the forklift safely and efficiently to support extrusion operations.

• Load aluminum logs onto the press log loader according to production schedules and work instructions.

• Transport logs from storage to the press area, ensuring correct alloy, size, and identification.

•Move extrusion racks, containers, tooling, and finished material as required to support production flow.

2. Receiving & Inventory Support:

• Receive incoming material, verifying quantities and condition against documentation.

• Stage received materials in designated locations according to plant layout and inventory controls.

• Communicate discrepancies, damage, or shortages to supervision or purchasing as required.

3. Scrap Handling & Waste Management:

• Perform routine scrap dumps, including butt scrap, puller scrap, and process scrap, following established procedures.

• Ensure scrap is properly segregated, identified, and transported to designated scrap areas.

• Maintain cleanliness and organization of scrap zones to support safety and environmental compliance.

4. Production & Utility Support:

• Support press operators and extrusion crews by responding to material and equipment needs during production.

• Assist general housekeeping around the press area.

• Maintain clear aisles, organized staging areas, and safe workspaces throughout the extrusion department.

5. Safety & Compliance:

• Follow all Iowa Aluminum safety policies, procedures, and work instructions.

• Properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.

• Perform pre-shift inspections of forklifts and report any equipment issues immediately.

• Participate in safety training, forklift certification, and job-specific training as required.

6. Communication & Teamwork:

• Communicate clearly with press operators, supervisors, and maintenance to support smooth operations.

• Report material shortages, delays, or safety concerns promptly.

• Work collaboratively as part of the extrusion team to meet production and quality goals.

Requirements

• Quality Assurance: Demonstrates strong attention to detail and a consistent commitment to producing and handling materials in accordance with quality requirements.
• Team Collaboration: Communicates effectively and works cooperatively with press operators, supervisors, maintenance, and other team members to support safe and efficient operations.
• Physical Requirements: Capable of performing physically demanding work, including lifting, bending, reaching, and standing for extended periods while handling heavy materials.
• Forklift Operation: Able to safely operate a forklift for extended periods, including loading, unloading, and transporting aluminum logs, racks, and materials up to 53 feet in length.
• Attendance: Consistent and reliable attendance is required.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in using computers and software.
