PAY GRADE 5: Program Technician – $16.91 – $20.84 per hour
PAY GRADE 7: Certified Technician – $18.89 – $23.20 per hour
The Ionia County Health Department is seeking a dedicated and compassionate person to join our team. The Program Technician is central to supporting the health and well-being of our diverse community by providing essential public health services and promoting disease prevention strategies across Ionia County. The ideal candidate will possess a clinical background (or be willing to learn), a passion for community health, and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
DESCRIPTION: Under the supervision of the Personal Health Director, the Health Department Program Technician conducts blood tests and records anthropometric data for the WIC and Lead clinics, assists with Lead Nurse Case Management, and serves as backup for the Health Department Program Clerk(s) in the WIC Clinic setting.
This position is Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 4:00 pm (10:00 am – 6:00 pm the 1st & 3rd Wednesday of each month) with some schedule flexibility to meet community needs. No work on weekends or holidays, except to meet specific program needs or during a public health emergency.

REQUIREMENTS:
- A Program Technician must have a High school diploma or GED, supplemented by specialized training; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Lab and/or clinical experience is preferred but not required.
- A Certified Technician must have a High school diploma or GED, supplemented by specialized training; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Lab and/or clinical experience and State of Michigan certification are required.
