About us
Ionia County Public Defender Office was created in September 2018 and we provide legal representation to all indigent criminal defendants charged with felonies and misdemeanors in Ionia County. Our office consists of four attorneys, two paralegals, one social worker, and legal studies interns. Great opportunity to develop trial and legal skills with an experienced office and staff.
We're looking for an experienced and passionate Public Defender to join our growing team of lawyers. The ideal candidate for this position will be an expert in the legal field and a strong public speaker. We are interested in hiring someone who is committed to the belief that everyone deserves quality legal defense services, regardless of their ability to pay, and who is willing to work alongside other professionals in order to help ensure that all citizens have sufficient representation.
Responsibilities:
- Interview and interrogate clients, witnesses, and police officers.
- Gather and review evidence.
- Communicate with private attorneys and other prosecutors.
- Interpret the law to clients.
- Build a case for the client.
- Negotiate with prosecutors over sentence and charges.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $76,693.50 - $103,506.00 per year
