If so, we’d love for you to join Iona Senior Services as a Digital Navigator-Contractor!SUMMARY:Iona Senior Services’ Digital Navigation Program helps bridge the digital divide faced by older adults (age 60 ) by providing hands-on technology education and support. The Digital Navigator will deliver in-person sessions at community dining sites, building digital literacy, confidence, and independence among participants.This short-term, part-time contract (January 6 – April 25, 2026) offers the opportunity to make a direct impact on digital inclusion for older adults in Washington, DC.RESPONSIBILITIES:Program Delivery & InstructionLead in-person technology sessions for participants at community dining sites.Conduct site visits four days per week between 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM to give presentations and provide individualized device support.Cover topics such as:Smartphone and tablet basicsInternet connectivity and Wi-FiEmail and online communication toolsOnline safety, privacy, and scam awarenessAccessing online healthcare and transportation appsTopics may include connecting to Wi-Fi, navigating tablet features, using streaming services, managing smartphone notifications, and basic troubleshooting.Provide clear, accessible handouts and reference materials to reinforce learning.Develop and maintain easy-to-read printed reference materials and guides for participants.Offer one-on-one assistance during and after sessions to help participants troubleshoot personal devices.Foster a welcoming, supportive environment where older adults feel comfortable asking questions and practicing new skills.Dedicate one additional prep/admin day per week at one of Iona’s office locations to prepare materials, track attendance, and coordinate program needs.Program Coordination & AdministrationMaintain attendance and participation records.Communicate regularly with Iona’s Around Town DC team to coordinate schedules, report updates, and share participant feedback.Track weekly activities and outcomes in alignment with program goals.Assist with pre- and post-program assessments to help measure participants’ digital skill growth and confidence.Participate in check-ins and share suggestions for improving digital inclusion efforts.Typical Schedule: Approximately 12 hours per weekFour 2-hour on-site class sessions per week at dining sitesOne 4-hour prep/admin day at an Iona office (flexible day of the week)Accessibility & InclusionCoordinate accessibility supports as needed (e.g., ASL interpretation, phone-based help using Language Line, or accessible print materials).Ensure all participants have equitable access to programming.Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and adapt communication approaches to meet participants’ diverse needsTransportation SupportTravel between dining sites across Wards 2, 3, and 4 is required.Transportation support is available as needed to help with travel between sites, within program budget limits.Qualifications1 years of experience providing technical support or computer training, preferably to older adults or individuals with limited tech experience.Strong working knowledge of smartphones (Android and iPhone), tablets, and basic computer functions.Proficiency with internet browsing, email, and online platforms.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to explain technical concepts in clear, simple language.Patience, empathy, and enthusiasm for empowering older adults to use technology independently.Ability to work independently while maintaining strong communication with program staff.Must be able to travel to multiple sites within Washington, DC.Compensation & Contract Details:Timeline: January 6 – April 25, 2026 (16 weeks)Compensation: $20/hour (total = $3,841.27)Location: In-person at 11 dining sites in Wards 2, 3, and 4Start-Date Flexibility: If this role sounds like a good fit but you need some flexibility with the start date, we encourage you to apply and let us know.Apply Today!
