Field Support plays a critical role in ensuring successful and timely solar installations by serving as the primary operational liaison between field crews and corporate teams. This position provides real-time troubleshooting, workflow oversight, and cross-department coordination to prevent project bottlenecks and maintain installation quality, compliance, and customer satisfaction.
Field Support ensures that projects progress efficiently from installation through commissioning while upholding company standards, safety requirements, and regulatory compliance.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary support contact for field installers via phone, chat, and text.
- Provide real-time troubleshooting assistance during active installations or service appointments.
- Identify, log, and route project issues to the appropriate internal departments.
- Escalate complex or high-risk issues to management when necessary.
- Identify process gaps and report recurring issues to leadership.
- Support internal teams (Design, Engineering, Permitting, Scheduling, Funding, etc.) as needed.
- Process failed inspections and create a necessary scope of work to address the fail.
- Comfortable contacting AHJ/Utility to address a failed inspection.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Clear and professional articulation of technical information.
- Proficiency in CRMs (Salesforce or similar platforms preferred).
- Working knowledge of solar installation processes.
- Ability to interpret electrical diagrams and plansets.
- Comfort communicating with AHJs, inspectors, and utilities.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent time management with ability to prioritize multiple live projects.
- Ability to remain calm and solution-oriented in high-pressure situations.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate’s degree or technical certification preferred but not required.
- 2 years of solar installation or field experience.
- Experience troubleshooting SolarEdge, Tesla, and Enphase systems.
- Familiarity with NEC requirements and utility interconnection processes.
- Experience with commissioning and provisioning platforms.
- Prior experience in field leadership or quality control roles.
Working Conditions:
Fast-paced, open-floor office environment with significant computer usage. Utilization of complex systems. Speed and accuracy are essential to the successful completion of tasks.
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. The noise level in the work environment is typical of that of an office. May encounter interruptions throughout the work day.
