Title: Part-Time Service Initiatives Coordinator

Department: Community and Civic Engagement

Reports To: Director of Community and Civic Engagement

Pay Range: $22.21 to $24.66 per hour based on experience

Job Status: Part-time; year-round (12 months); non-exempt

Estimated Hours: Approximately 20-25 hours per week, including occasional nights and weekends (position is eligible for employee health benefits)

This position is an opportunity to engage students in service, to support faculty and student leaders in implementing community-focused projects and partnerships, to capture and share our stories of engagement, and to help develop strategies and programs that build a culture of service. The ideal candidate is an organized, creative, student-centered, and agile problem-solver and team player, who is driven by the potential benefits for all stakeholders involved in ʻIolani’s Community and Civic Engagement programs.

The Service Initiatives Coordinator works closely with the Director of Community and Civic Engagement, contributing to efforts in the following areas:

• Faculty and student support - managing logistics, communication, and implementation of projects. 
• C CE and service - crafting themes, activities, and opportunities for teachers, coaches, and students to engage in community service and service-learning.
• Food4Thought and Earth Month ʻIolani campaigns - providing opportunities for K-12 participation and integration of projects with coursework. 
• Student Leadership Development - working with individual students, student organizations and/or advisors to pursue personally meaningful C CE projects, especially as they engage others and activate the One Team ethos.
• Infrastructure - developing, promoting, and managing a software platform (GivePulse) to encourage collaboration, reflection, and assessment, vetting service opportunities, publishing and promoting activities related to C CE. 

As a part of the C CE team, the Service Initiatives Coordinator contributes in the following areas to support the goals of ʻIolani’s C CE:

• Communications and on-campus outreach/community-building.
• Photography/chaperoning, including some evenings and weekends.
• Articles, flyers, and posts for digital and physical arenas.
• Event planning and execution.
• Operational support, including basic bookkeeping.
• Data collection and management.

• Functional understanding of DEI in the ways it applies to curriculum and service-learning pedagogy.

• Time management and the ability to meet deadlines and requirements for multiple competing demands at once.
• Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to write articles for publication, create professional presentation materials, speak and present to diverse audiences, create and edit videos, develop teaching materials, take quality photos, curate and edit photos, et al.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to sit for extended periods.
• Ability to stand and/or walk for sustained periods of time.
• Full leg and arm mobility (walking, ability to access overhead shelves).
• Ability to lift and carry 20 pounds.
• Full range of head and neck movement.
• Ability to see and hear with or without correction.
• Due to work in close proximity to children, must pass fingerprinting and background clearance checks.
• TB clearance required.
