REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
Reports to: Site Supervisor, Operations Supervisor, President and Medical Director
GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB: The role of Patient Service Coordinator (PSR) is to provide exceptional care to patients and referring physician’s offices through friendly, courteous, caring and professional services. PSRs ensure that our patients feel welcome and comfortable on every level of interaction with our facilities: from scheduling an appointment to requesting medical records. The Radiology outpatient industry consists of a fast paced smaller environment that allows development of close working relationships with referring physicians, clinical staff and returning patients. Every team member’s role is crucial to our practice’s success in providing exceptional patient care and outstanding customer service to our referring physicians.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: A successful PSR becomes the patient’s advocate by providing professional customer services such as scheduling of appointments, initiating and obtaining insurance authorizations, completing insurance verification and eligibility checks, patient registration, collecting payments at time of service, complete daily balance sheet of cash, checks or credit cards collected, scanning and retrieving medical records, gathering faxes, indexing faxes and filing patient records. Provide courteous and professional service to all referring physicians and their staff.
The PSR is cross trained in all administrative aspects of company as directed by management. Accurate data entry. Ability to work in a fast paced environment. Responsible for effective billing components, problem solving and maintenance of financial computer records of patients following Strategic Medical’s policies and procedures. Adhere to HIPAA compliance regulations. Must travel to other Wave sites as needed. Regular attendance and punctuality is required. Must be able to follow company rules and procedures. Must be able to follow direction from a supervisor or management. Must be able to interact in a positive and constructive manner with others.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES: Customer service skills and experience. Ability to work in a fast paced environment. Ability to receive and express detailed information through oral and written communications. Builds and maintains collaborative relationships with internal and external clients that lead to effective communication and higher level of productivity and accuracy. Must be able to appropriately interpret physician orders, medical terminology and insurance cards. Demonstrates basic computer skills involving word and data entry. Problem resolution. Ability to travel to other facilities as needed.
EDUCATION:
High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge of Radiology practices and referring community. Basic medical terminology. Understanding of third-party payor requirements.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Seeing, speaking, listening, hearing and manual dexterity. This position may require duties including lifting and carrying up to 40 pounds. Sitting in front of a computer for prolonged periods of time. Walking, bending, reaching. Occasional balancing and stooping. Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment with multiple deadlines and priorities.
DRESS ATTIRE: Medical scrubs.
