AI & Emerging Technology Counsel
A leading investment firm is seeking an attorney to join its Legal & Compliance team and play a central role in supporting the organization’s expanding use of artificial intelligence. This position offers the opportunity to partner with stakeholders across the business to help drive innovation while managing legal, regulatory, and operational risks in a dynamic environment. As AI continues to be a strategic priority for the firm, this individual will serve as a trusted advisor on a broad range of technology and governance matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with investment, technology, and business teams to facilitate the responsible adoption of AI solutions throughout the organization.
- Assess legal, regulatory, and compliance considerations associated with new AI initiatives and help develop practical solutions that align with business objectives.
- Advise on a variety of AI-related matters, including technology evaluations, vendor engagements, data governance questions, and implementation of AI tools within existing business processes.
- Contribute to the design, enhancement, and oversight of the firm’s AI governance program, including policies, controls, and frameworks addressing evolving technologies such as autonomous and agent-based AI systems.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to promote awareness of AI-related risks and best practices while supporting innovation across the enterprise.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree and approximately five to seven years of relevant legal experience gained in private practice, asset management, financial services, fintech, or a related industry.
- Prior in-house experience providing product, technology, or general legal counseling is strongly preferred.
- Strong business judgment and the ability to deliver practical, risk-based advice in a fast-moving environment.
- Interest in artificial intelligence and emerging technologies, with experience leveraging AI tools or advising on technology-related matters. Deep subject-matter expertise in AI law is not required.
- Experience developing, implementing, or advising on policies, governance programs, or compliance frameworks is a plus.
- Excellent analytical, communication, organizational, and project management skills, along with a collaborative approach and meticulous attention to detail.
