I’m supporting an established, scientist-led life science tools company with the appointment of a Director of Immunology for Product Development.
This is a highly visible scientific leadership role responsible for shaping a globally competitive portfolio of antibodies, immunoassays and research reagents for academic, biotech and biopharma customers.
The successful candidate will lead a small team of scientists while helping define where the immunology portfolio should go next—combining deep scientific expertise with an understanding of emerging research technologies, customer needs and commercial opportunity.
The role will involve:
🔬 Identifying emerging areas of immunology and translating them into differentiated product and portfolio opportunities
🧪 Own and guide the development and application of antibody-based detection reagents across technologies ranging from traditional immunoassays to multiplex and multiomic platforms
📈 Working with scientific leadership, Product Management, Marketing and Sales to prioritise commercially meaningful opportunities
🤝 Building relationships with academic and biopharma KOLs, advisers and external collaborators
📚 Overseeing innovative, publication-quality immunology research
👥 Leading, mentoring and developing a team of scientists, with scope to grow the group over time
We are looking for:
- A PhD-level scientist with deep, current expertise in immunology, immuno-oncology, inflammation, immune-mediated disease or a closely related area
- Strong familiarity with antibodies as research and protein-detection reagents, including immunoassays and modern detection technologies
- Someone who bridges rigorous science with real commercial and market judgment
- Broad knowledge of where immunology research and immune-based therapies are heading
- A strong publication record and established relationships across the academic and/or biopharma immunology community
- Experience leading and developing scientific teams
- The communication skills and confidence to influence both bench scientists and senior executives

💰 $210,000–$245,000 base 20% target bonus
