Help Us Bring True Fiber Internet to Underserved Communities Across the United States
INTUS Smartcities is expanding its fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) footprint across multiple U.S. states. As we scale our broadband infrastructure, we are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Project Engineer to oversee the local implementation of FTTH ISP network deployments.
This role is ideal for a field-focused engineer who excels at coordinating design, permitting, construction, logistics, and contractor oversight to deliver high-quality fiber networks on time and within budget.
Why You’ll Love Working at INTUS Smartcities
You’ll work on meaningful fiber infrastructure projects, have real influence over how networks are designed and built, and grow your career alongside a team that values expertise, ownership, and execution. This is a rare opportunity to help build modern FTTH networks from the ground up—without the bureaucracy of legacy telecoms.
What You’ll Do
● Manage the development of high-level FTTH network designs in collaboration with internal engineering teams.
● Coordinate with local municipalities to obtain required consents, permits, and approvals for network deployment.
● Identify and secure locations for equipment shelters, network hubs, and construction yards within target municipalities.
● Oversee outside plant (OSP) design, including conduit routes and fiber layouts.
● Conduct field walkthroughs with design teams and validate construction methods with local engineering and public works departments.
● Procure materials required for network construction in coordination with the INTUS procurement team.
● Collect and track invoices for all equipment and materials and submit them to the CORE management team.
● Establish warehouse facilities and implement inventory management systems for material tracking.
● Supervise construction contractors responsible for conduit installation, fiber placement, and splicing operations.
● Coordinate installation, commissioning, and powering of network equipment across multiple sites.
● Ensure compliance with local regulations, safety standards, and project timelines.
● Maintain detailed documentation of project progress, risks, issues, and resolutions.
Who You Are
● Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field.
● 5 years of experience delivering telecom, utility, or infrastructure construction projects.
● Strong understanding of FTTH network components and deployment practices.
● Proven experience working with municipal authorities and permitting processes.
● Proficient with project management tools and inventory management systems.
● Familiarity with GIS platforms such as ArcGIS or QGIS, including CSV data manipulation.
● Strong communication skills with the ability to manage contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
● Able and willing to travel interstate within the U.S. as required.
Preferred Certifications
● PMP or equivalent project management certification.
● Fiber optic installation or splicing certifications (e.g., FOA, ETA).
● Professional Engineer (PE) designation.
