What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Crisis Communications Leader position at Intrepid?
Intrepid is seeking a seasoned crisis communications professional to help lead and expand our crisis and issues management practice. This is a rare opportunity to shape one of the West’s premier crisis consultancies and work directly with Intrepid’s president and vice president on high-profile, high-stakes engagements across industries.
Key Responsibilities
- Help lead crisis and issues response for corporate, governmental, higher education, and legal clients
- Serve as strategic counselor to C-suite leaders, boards, and legal teams
- Develop rapid-response messaging, strategic blueprints and content across channels
- Oversee and execute crisis planning, trainings, and simulations
- Build crisis offerings, packages, and processes that scale
- Partner with internal teams to elevate client deliverables and grow crisis capabilities
- Contribute to business development and thought leadership
- Manage workflow, mentor team members, and uphold Intrepid’s high standards
- Contribute to agency thought leadership through articles, speaking engagements, and external content
Requirements
- 10–15 years of experience in crisis communications, issues management, or corporate reputation
- Agency experience or significant in-house experience managing complex, fast-moving work
- Demonstrated success advising senior executives under pressure
- Exceptional writing and analytical skills: clear, fast, concise, strategic
- Proven ability to think calmly and act decisively during time-sensitive situations
- Solid experience working with legal counsel
- Strong operational instincts: scoping, pricing, delegating, and delivering
- Emotional resilience with capacity to handle surges without dysregulation
- Desire to build something, not just maintain
- Ability/Willingness to manage some non-crisis clients
- Ability to thrive with autonomy while collaborating closely with leadership
- While some work is national in scope, this role requires strong familiarity with Utah’s cultural, political, business, and media landscape.
