SUMMARY
This position is responsible for planning the overall deployment of new fiber-based telecommunications networks in one or more geographical locations, overseeing the end-to-end deployment of our fiber infrastructure to include Single Family Units, Multi Dwelling Units & Small Business developments. You will coordinate project timelines working with the building access specialists and the construction managers, ensuring projects are delivered on time while meeting the allocated budgeted estimates.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: What will you be doing?
- Align and own project scope, goals, deliverables, timelines, and resource allocation for fiber network deployments.
- Break down complex fiber deployment projects into manageable tasks and assign responsibilities to team members.
- Maintain project schedules and track project milestones in Sitetracker.
- Interpret site surveys, building prints, and utility maps to determine optimal fiber routing and ensure constructability of proposed designs.
- Report on key performance indicators (KPIs) specific to fiber network deployment.
- Manage project budgets, track expenses, and ensure financial viability for fiber network deployments.
- Facilitate project meetings and maintain clear and consistent communication with project stakeholders involved in fiber network deployment.
- Collaborate with construction managers to ensure that designs align with build methods and field conditions.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement changes to enhance efficiency of fiber network deployment.
- Review site surveys from various construction partners to ensure design accuracy and budgetary parameters along with adherence to industry construction standards and local building codes in all engineering designs.
- Coordinate with access specialists to ensure timely acquisition of Right-of-Entry (ROE) agreements and design modifications specific to building layouts.
- Stay up to date with industry best practices and project planning specific to fiber network deployments.
- Oversee project timelines to ensure construction timelines are being met with various vendors.
COMPETENCIES: What do you bring to the team?
- Experience in Multi-Dwelling Unit and/or Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) construction
- Experience in the telecommunications industry.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, project management, or a related field preferred; equivalent work experience or technical training will be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Proven experience in engineering project planning and scheduling.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Knowledge of construction practices and permitting processes related to fiber network deployment.
- Proficiency in software tools, including but not limited to Sitetracker, Vetro, and NetSuite.
- Knowledge of: Internet Software; Spreadsheet Software (Excel); Word Processing Software (Word) and Electronic Mail Software (Outlook), presentation software (PowerPoint), scheduling software (Project), design software (Visio, others), GIS (Google Earth) and project management and financial software.
- Must have a valid, unrestricted driver’s license
