Position Summary:

Intren West is actively seeking experienced Estimators to support our continued growth across utility construction, infrastructure, and energy delivery projects. We are looking for professionals who bring a strong command of cost analysis, bid preparation, and project scoping—individuals who can confidently partner with operations, engineering, and clients to deliver accurate, competitive, and strategic estimates.


This role is ideal for professionals who thrive in a dynamic environment, enjoy solving complex challenges, and want to contribute to a company known for safety, quality, and customer dedication. Both mid‑level and senior‑level candidates are encouraged to apply.


Responsibilities

  • Estimate Development — Prepare detailed cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and overhead for utility construction and related infrastructure projects.
  • Bid Preparation — Compile bid packages, perform quantity takeoffs, and ensure all scope elements are accurately captured.
  • Project Review — Analyze project plans, specifications, and drawings to identify cost drivers, constructability issues, and potential risks.
  • Collaboration — Work closely with project managers, field leadership, engineering teams, and clients to clarify scope and support bid strategy.
  • Vendor & Subcontractor Coordination — Solicit, evaluate, and negotiate subcontractor and supplier pricing.
  • Cost Analysis — Conduct cost comparisons, historical cost reviews, and value‑engineering assessments.
  • Documentation — Maintain organized estimate files, assumptions, and supporting documentation for internal and client review.
  • Process Improvement — Contribute to continuous improvement of estimating tools, templates, and workflows.


Qualifications:


Mid‑Level Estimator

  • 3–5 years of estimating experience
  • Growing responsibility in bid development and project scoping
  • Familiarity with utility or civil construction environments


Senior Estimator

  • 7–10 years of estimating experience
  • Proven ability to lead bids and mentor junior staff
  • Experience influencing pursuit strategy and pricing decisions


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Utility Sector Knowledge — Experience with electric distribution, transmission, gas, or underground utility work.
  • Software Proficiency — Experience with platforms such as HeavyBid, B2W, or similar estimating systems.
  • Field Experience — Prior field or project management exposure supporting constructability insight.
  • Advanced Cost Modeling — Ability to build complex cost models and scenario analyses.
