What are the responsibilities and job description for the Preschool Teacher position at Into The Woods Playschool?
We are looking for an experienced preschool teacher who loves the outdoors. We are a nature preschool that follows many forest school principles and spends the majority of our time in the woods. We serve children ages 3-5 in a mixed-age classroom.
- Hours of work are from 8:45-1:45 Monday-Friday during the school year (closed all school holidays) Additional staff meetings outside these hours required
- DCF and Into The Woods Playschool require fingerprinting for an FBI and FDLE background screening at the cost of $65 and a local county background screening for $6. These reports, showing clearance, are due prior to the first day of employment. The preceding is at the employee's expense and can be taken out of the first paycheck if requested. The DCF 45-Hour Teacher Training Courses must be initiated within 90 days. All must be completed within the specific time period as dictated by law.
- Preference will be given to applicants with a degree or special training in Early Childhood Education, Forest School, Nature Preschool, or other relative backgrounds
- We are outside much of the day. Ability to endure all weather and the physical demands of heavy lifting, gardening, and other outdoor activities required
