Business Driver:
- Client is moving off SAP HCM and switching to Dayforce HCM. They need a Senior IT HCM Business Systems Analyst to own the Dayforce rollout on their side and keep things on track for a January 2027 go‑live.
- They’re looking for someone who knows Dayforce inside and out to set it up and support HR, Payroll, and Benefits team, since they don’t have that experience in‑house today.
Must-Have Skills:
- Implementation expertise in Dayforce Modules - Core HR, WFM, Payroll, Benefits
- Currently in the middle of it with SI partner and lacking in these areas.
- Looking for a senior person who will interact with HR Business Partners and stakeholders, understand business requirements, create dialogue with business units, and have experience assessing whether current workflows are compatible with Dayforce. Able to provide best practices based on experience or research.
- BSA who has worked on the IT side of HR, Benefits, and Payroll. Has worked on multiple integrations and understands how backend HR/employee datasets interact with third‑party providers and are sent to external applications. Should be familiar with how this works so they can partner with internal technical teams on how the data should interact in the new system.
- Analyst expectation is that they understand what’s happening from a business standpoint (upcoming changes and impacts to business processes) and from an IT standpoint (what needs to be configured and supported in the system).
Nice to Have:
- Exposure to SAP would be great. Business must be able to support the existing ERP (SAP), keep the lights on, and comply with legal requirements, including California payroll laws.
Day-to-day Responsibilities:
- They work closely with HR, Payroll, IT, and other teams to figure out what’s needed, set up Dayforce the right way, fix issues when things break, and make sure everything works smoothly. They help with testing, upgrades, integrations, audits, and year‑end payroll, keep documentation organized, and train users so teams can use the system confidently.
- Work with the implementation partner through go‑live. The candidate will support Sonal’s team by guiding the implementation, validating the approach, and ensuring best practices and strong Dayforce expertise on the CalPortland side.
Immediate Projects: currently implementing Dayforce Application in modules - Core HR, WFM, Payroll, Benefits
Biggest Challenge Expected for Role: Ability to interact with stakeholders, understand their requirements, clearly explain, be able to articulate what the system can offer, and build trust by demonstrating strong knowledge of the system and confidently owning the solution.
How Will Success Be Measured: This person is the go‑to Dayforce expert, and they should be able to earn the team’s trust by demonstrating strong Dayforce knowledge and proving that you can deliver on what you say.

We are seeking a strategic and hands-on Senior IT HCM Business Systems Analyst with deep expertise in HCM best practices, Benefits, Payroll and Time processes, to support our HR technology landscape. The ideal candidate thrives at the intersection of HR, IT, and business operations, translating complex business needs into scalable IT solutions. The Senior IT HCM Systems Analyst will maintain and enhance the HCM and Payroll systems and processes while supporting the implementation of new technologies and integrations. This role is a critical part of the company's HR technology environment with an emphasis on business process and its system configurations and continual improvement of the end-user experience. It is part of a lean team dedicated to driving efficiency within IT department to support the business.

- Act as the IT- HCM SME and collaborate with stakeholders and cross-functional teams to define and document business needs
- Liaise directly with business areas to identify key requirements and initiate designs of applications independently, conferring with various user groups to define business needs and potential solutions within the Dayforce Application
- Configure, administer, and optimize Dayforce system - Core HR, WFM, Payroll, Benefits, and support the HR, Payroll, and Benefits teams
- Implement updates regarding Major Releases to HR/Benefits and Payroll teams, highlighting key changes and enhancement opportunities
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex system issues, perform audits and validations to ensure data integrity
- Develop and execute test plans, reports, and audit processes to validate the functionality and accuracy of the configured payroll and HR process; ensure business signoff
- Partner with developers to build integrations with other applications or third-party vendors
- Create and maintain clear documentation (process flows, configuration guides, test scripts)
- Assist HR teams with system-related issues and provide training to end-users
- Support compliance, JSOX audits requirements, and year-end processing as needed in the HR and Payroll area
- Assist with developing feeds, APIs, and integrations between the HR/Payroll system and other enterprise and reporting applications
Education
- Master’s or minimum a bachelor’s degree in computer science and/or Human Resources/ Business Administration or related field.
- SAP/ Success Factors Certifications, PMP certifications are an added advantage
Requirements/Qualifications
- Good understanding and exposure for Dayforce Application in modules - Core HR, WFM, Payroll, Benefits
- Demonstrated ability to be the primary point of contact for solving complex backend/data issues across technical HR systems and partner with stakeholders to implement solutions
- Ability to define systems requirements, design, and prototype business processes, test complex functionality, train others, and work in a team environment
- Experience in executing system upgrades, testing, and enhancement analysis
- Ability to configure forms, reports, and workflows to suit business requirements, and document configurations, workflows, and procedures
- Good understanding of HR, benefits, and payroll process integrations; experience supporting union environments; good understanding of California labor laws (meal/rest, split shifts, overtime, final pay, etc.)
- Strong knowledge of benefits and payroll integration with Finance (posting to GL), and third-party providers (e.g., tax, garnishments, benefits)
- Demonstrated understanding of benefit plans and related configurations
- Experience in designing and implementing benefits interfaces with various benefits providers; participate in technical design discussions for interfaces
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder engagement skills
- Some experience in SAP HCM, Payroll, and Benefits areas is an added advantage
