System Administrator III

Location: Laurel, MD
Compensation Range: $160,000 – $194,000 (annualized USD)
Clearance Required: Must be a U.S. citizen with an active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph

We are seeking a System Administrator (Level 3) to support high-performance operational infrastructure as a senior technical contributor responsible for sustaining and evolving a complex IT environment. This is not a traditional ticket-driven administrator role. We are looking for someone who takes ownership of systems, documents with precision, builds strong relationships with stakeholders, and continuously improves how engineers interact with their technical environment.

This role requires a forward-thinking professional who enjoys working directly with users, optimizing workflows, and building repeatable processes that make future deployments faster and more efficient. You will support high-performance compute infrastructure while helping modernize operational capabilities as technology evolves.

• Install, configure, and maintain high-performance compute hardware, including NVIDIA H100, H200, and B300 accelerator platforms

• Relocate and reconfigure existing systems while maintaining configuration integrity and accurate asset tracking

• Lead installation and sustainment efforts for both new and legacy hardware systems

• Develop detailed documentation for installation procedures, system configurations, and operational best practices

• Build strong relationships with onsite support teams to streamline troubleshooting and escalation processes

• Identify gaps in support coverage and recommend improvements to reduce downtime and response time

• Partner with engineering teams to optimize system performance and user workflows

• Maintain clear technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and standard operating procedures

• Support virtualization initiatives and contribute to long-term infrastructure modernization efforts

• Adapt to evolving mission needs, including future cloud integrations, AWS environments, and large-scale AI infrastructure

• Strong Linux systems administration experience in operational environments

• Experience installing and maintaining GPU-accelerated or high-performance computing systems, particularly NVIDIA enterprise hardware

• Demonstrated ability to document technical processes clearly and professionally

• Experience working within structured data center or warehouse environments

• Familiarity with virtualization technologies and hypervisors

• Ability to troubleshoot hardware and software issues across networked systems

• Strong communication skills and experience working directly with users and stakeholders

• Proven ability to operate independently while coordinating with distributed technical teams

• Forward-thinking mindset with enthusiasm for improving the user experience

• Comfort working hands-on with hardware in warehouse or data center environments

• Strong relationship-building skills with onsite technical teams

• Interest in expanding into cloud technologies, AWS environments, and large language model infrastructure

• Commitment to building documentation and repeatable processes that improve operational efficiency

9 years of relevant experience with or without a Bachelor’s degree

Salary is determined by multiple factors including location, education, experience, skills, and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $160,000 – $194,000 (annualized USD).
