Position: Full-Stack Software Engineer — Backend Focus (Software Engineer, Level 2)

Location: Columbia, MD (on-site)

Compensation: $160,000 – $190,000 (annualized USD)

Experience Requirement:

• 8 years with a Bachelor's degree, OR

• 6 years with a Master's degree, OR

• 4 additional years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree

Description

This team is a forward-deployed development team providing critical support to a fast-paced customer. As a member of the team, you'll work closely with analysts and operators, providing software solutions for hard problems and having the opportunity to work on every part of the pipeline, from sitting next to operators assisting with the tools we build to providing tools to analysts so they can better understand their data.

Responsibilities

• Develop data transforms for every kind of data (text, JSON, databases, XML, configs, etc.).

• Gather feature requests, new application requirements, and understand project and customer needs.

• Dive into unknown data and help analysts figure out the right questions to ask.

• Work on tools to improve the performance of applications and transforms, allowing more data to be understood.

• Manage and support high-priority servers - working as both a developer of server frameworks and sysadmin when needed.

Skills Requirements

• Strong experience with Python.

• Knowledge of dataframes (Pandas, Polars).

• Knowledge of SQL as a language and different database flavors (SQLite, Postgres, MySQL).

• Understanding of Git and GitLab for source control.

• Familiar with TypeScript/JavaScript and React or another modern frontend framework.

• Comfortable working directly with customers and receiving direct feedback.

Nice to Haves

• AWS certifications.

• DevOps CI/CD experience.

• Experience with enterprise-scale data processing and data storage.

• Experience developing using AI agents.

• Prior experience in cyber operations or capability development.

Compensation Employment Policy

Salary is determined by multiple factors, including location, education, experience, skills, and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $160,000 – $190,000 (annualized USD).
