Medical Assistant, Vero Beach
Interventional Spine and Pain Institute is seeking an experienced full-time Medical Assistant who is a team-player with exceptional customer service skills, capable of providing the outstanding patient experience characteristic of Interventional Spine and Pain Institute. The ideal candidate will possess the following skillset.
Responsibilities:
- Takes patient histories, vital signs and chart reason for visit.
- Prepares patients for examination and/or procedures.
- Assists the physician with examinations and treatments
- Understands DME (durable medical equipment) and how to navigate a procedure suite (specifically position a c arm-fluoro) to conduct interventional pain procedures.
- Collects and prepares laboratory specimens, e.g., urine drug screen samples
- Sterilizes medical instruments as appropriate
- Enters data into patient’s electronic record (eClinicalWorks); scans and indexes documents accurately to patient’s electronic medical records
- Speaks with patients, pharmacies and providers regarding patient care issues.
- Answers Medical Assistant specific calls, seeing to it that messages are worked from time of receipt to resolution.
- Capable of conducting pre-operative and post-operative consents and vitals while complying with safety and compliance protocols
- Understands basic inventory, ordering and stocking of exam rooms.
- Experience with in office interventional procedures a plus (and/or interest in and ability to learn)
- Administrative items as necessary including, but not limited to: transferring images from c-arm to EMR for upload to patient chart, retrieving lab results and attaching to chart, procedure chart preparation, etc.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Strong ethical and moral character references; must be an optimistic team player who understands team work, doing the right thing and always puts on a good face for patients.
- Medical Assistant and medical office experience required; pain management experience preferred, but not required
- Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office, E.H.R documentation and a thorough understanding of medical terminology
- Experience working in a procedure suite with interventional pain management.
- A solid understanding of medical office workflows
