Medical Assistant Vero Beach, FL
Interventional Spine and Pain Institute is seeking an experienced full-time Medical Assistant who is a team-player with exceptional customer service skills, capable of providing the outstanding patient experience characteristic of Interventional Spine and Pain Institute. The role will be located in our Vero Beach office.
Responsibilities
- Takes patient histories and vital signs
- Prepares patients for examination and/or procedures
- Serves as resident expert with procedure suite operations, from utilization of c-arm to consenting patients for procedures (or willing to learn and be trained)
- Assists the physician with examinations and treatments
- Performs selected diagnostic tests as directed by the physician
- Collects and prepares laboratory specimens, e.g., urine drug screen samples
- Sterilizes medical instruments as appropriate
- Prepares and administers medications as directed by a physician
- Enters data into patient’s electronic record (eClinicalWorks); scans and indexes documents accurately to patient’s electronic medical records
- Speaks with patients, pharmacies and providers regarding patient care issues.
- Answers Medical Assistant specific calls, seeing to it that messages are worked from time of receipt to resolution.
- Understands basic inventory, ordering and stocking of exam rooms.
- Administrative items as necessary including, but not limited to: transferring images from c-arm to EMR for upload to patient chart, retrieving lab results and attaching to chart, procedure chart preparation, etc.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Strong ethical and moral character references; must be an optimistic team player who understands team work, doing the right thing and always puts on a good face for patients.
- Medical Assistant and medical office experience required; pain management experience preferred, but not required
- Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office, E.H.R documentation and a thorough understanding of medical terminology.
- Experience working in a procedure suite with interventional pain management.
- A solid understanding of c-arm terminology including instruction using the instrument.
